Upon a recommendation, I listened to this through Audible and was pleasantly surprised. I have not read many short stories before and I was caught off guard by how engaged I became with each scifi story. I listened to them while working on a tedious and boring project for work, so it made the project much more enjoyable.

All of the stories are unique in regards to characters, worlds, plot, etc... The retelling of the classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, with the scifi twist, was my favorite story. Though the Assasin world, reprogrammed aliens with wings, mental collective and all of the stories were equally great. I felt like I listened to a season of Dr. Who.

The narrator definitely added to the stories and was entertaining. My only complaint is that the short stories were so interesting that it left me wanting more when each ended.

Stellar Cloud Charity Bradford 9781492798835 Books Reviews

I hate short stories, because there is normally no character development, no fully developed scene, and the tiny stories are trite and end abruptly. This collection, however, pulled me in. It seems as if this set of stories was designed to set you up in a wonderfully written world, with compelling characters and then you get to imagine the story however you want. Each story leaves you with a feeling that it ended in the correct spot, that anything more or less would just ruin it. While I would love to read more, I'm actually happy with them as they are.
Great short story collection. Many left me wanting more and I hope the author expands on them.
I didn't realize this was a bunch of short stories - the first one was really good, and then it just ended. The rest was hit or miss, but it was not a waste of time reading.
A well written collection of science fiction and fantasy stories. Clever and full of imagination. "The Sleeper" is my favorite of the bunch. I loved how the story twisted on itself and gave me the urge just to look outside at the clear blue sky.
Short story collections are often a case of liking one or two stories, and feeling cool about the rest. This collection turned that assumption on its head for me, and turned me into a fan. This collection of unrelated stories shows off the author’s imagination and grounding in classic Sci-Fi. From military SF, to a far-future take on Sleeping Beauty, to stories commentating on aging, the singularity, the justice of exile, and the unlikely roots of survival, each story entertained and kept me reading on. There was a 100-word flash-fiction piece “Perspective,” which didn’t work for me but wasn't a deal-breaker given my enjoyment of the other stories. All said, a recommended read.
I really enjoyed reading them. The stories will appeal to everyone. I like the characters and the worlds that Charity created with each story. It's hard to decide which one is my favorite. I really like The Sleeper. It's set in the future and the characters are great. The boys are trained throughout their lives to attain a certain goal when they are chosen to pursue it. The ending of the story left me wanting to know more about the two characters Gareth and Amelia. This is definitely a collection you will want to add to your TBR list. I look forward to reading more of Charity's books.
First of all, I'm not an avid short-story reader, and I don't dabble a lot in futuristic type science fiction. Overall, I was impressed by this book.

As far as basics go, this was very clean. No grammar issues, no errors. Bradford obviously has writing experience, and it shows in her style.

With content, I have to say she was able to maintain originality. They weren't futuristic space stories that I'd heard before, but I haven't read extensively in science fiction either. I came away from each story thinking a lot about it. While she uses ethical questions/decisions with each story, it's never the driving force. Each story is short, easy-to-read, but also distinct. She uses great description so I knew what was happening, but not an overabundance.

At the end, I didn't have anything I would have changed or walked away from it with a feeling that it should have been different. This book makes me want to read more of Bradford's work.
