Great novel. Well written. Didn't want the book to end! I've recommended it to many people. I'm sure this book will upset traditional Christians. If one is open minded they will appreciate the retell of the Lazarus story and the last week of Jesus' life from a non-traditional perspective. Many Kabbalist ideas are expressed. Lepers and homosexuals and other fringe societal groups and their relationships with God are explored. Great read. (This is the first review written. If more people review, take into consideration some people will find this book blasphemy and rate it according to their belief system rather than the quality of the writing and the originality of the content. Not true to the Bible, but an interesting concept.
I'm honestly just so moved by this book. I don't usually review, but I was so compelled by this book that I can't help but give it the credit it deserves.
This book... This book is so deep. I'm not that religious and I know nothing about Judaism but I swear I could feel the faith in the oneness of life welling up within me.
Apart from that, the characters were well written -even the minor ones had well thought-out wants and needs. Despite being relatively long, I was engaged the entire way through the book and never once tempted to put it down. I fell in love with all of them and the ways they grew as people. Simply amazing, all of it.
